Isaiah 58:8-12, 14 ESV (10) if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. (11) And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. (12) And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in… (14) then you shall take delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
God has to have a people that He can heal, deliver, and set free first. He does it to you and for you first because somewhere along the line He came and looked at your heart and He liked what He saw. He looked and said, “This is one with a heart after Me.” He delivered you and set you free, first, so then you could go out and do the same for someone else.
Jesus says in John 14 that “You will do these works and also greater…” So He is encouraging us: make sure your heart is ruled by Me – not by the things you do.
Because once and for all God wants a people who will do it His way. He wants a people who will keep their heart in check for Him. See, the solution is very simple – Keep your heart connected to Him. Understand that the way He intended it to be was if someone needs to be ministered to, we minister to them. If not, then those are the days where He ministers to us. It has to work in tandem. Pour out and be poured into – work when its time to work and when there is no work partake of God’s presence and get filled up.
